Can I just say...

This forum never ceases to amaze me. Throughout all of MSE this and to some extent the Praise and Warnings board are more often than not the first port of call for new members. Members who join this forum and then often stay on to become valuable contributors to it.
Those new members become seasoned regulars who, when a similar problem to their original one, occurs can offer impartial advice on how to deal with their situations.

Over the last few months this forum has degenerated into a playground for name calling, mickey taking and abuse in general. Serious questions from members requiring help are met with derision and often personal abuse. Whilst some members of the forum attempt to help posters the vast amount of necessary and unwarranted abusive posts that clog up the threads are increasingly pushing posters away. Its frustrating to those genuine members who just want to offer help and advice. There is nothing wrong with seeking advice on a forum, regardless of the issue.

Of course, this wont make a scrap of difference to those who's only outlet appears to be abusing new posters as they sit behind their screens. But to those of you who, like me, actually want to make a difference here, and to new posters who feel belittled and intimidated I wanted to say, Don't let the !!!!!!s grind you down.

  • I have to agree pullip. I tend to only pick on numpties myself, those that come on here for a sense of absolution for their mistakes. I end to leave of the Debt boards as I feel they are the important aspect of this site, and far more qualified people offer advice, though I would suggest my advice would start with the words that most would find angst at.
As for some post, the I find some meat in my veg pie; my thoughts are what are you complaining about, and others that come on wanting absolution for buying something in a shop and then finding they did not like it. Genuine cases are normally on here treated with a degree of respect.
As for some, and I think pullip pulled me up earlier for a snide on the I hit the wrong button and sent money to someone else, yes to me it is Ops fault in the first place and to ease matters, yes I go into Dog and Duck mode, but in a sense on that post in jest and offer advice as well. I think in that case, a jest does help and if it stops one more doing the same, then the thread and post is doing its job.
As for some posts, like I lost the forms, and cancelling contracts, I am sorry, but it is a fact of life, that you cannot go into the emporium to watch a peep show for nothing and expect a refund.
Some people will always wants absolution, and I have been pm’d by a few less than 10 posters who I have pulled up for coming on here with their Jack Boots. Funny how they are quite God fearing in their retorts, only when the words are quoted back, they shy away. I have pulled people up on accession and they have flagged me, but sometimes this does and has lead to the OP getting a better resolution.
My thought for the site, is that you are not allowed to post further comments on a consumer forum if your overall post score is low for 2 hours or such. That way, I think this part of the site would be better.
But do not get too upset, the world is diverse and not everyone will agree. I think some will disagree with this post, but to me. The ultimate test is if the person who disagrees with what others say, read and comment constructively, instead of ignoring some of us.

It's certainly more suited to The Arms or DT. You get thanked more over there as well :D

I haven't read that thread asI feel it's another instance of people getting attacked when they come for help.

I'm not a vegetarian so it's hard for me to imagine how upsetting it would be to chew on meat when you have made the choice to abstain from it. The OP of that thread is obviously very annoyed and they certainly don't deserve getting abused here.

They said the suit would be 'Italian' but it was made by a Chinese man.

I'm dying to see how this one pans out in the bespoke suit thread.
