Royal Mail Charges

Options
Have you received that little card saying you owe for delivery since the new system was introduced? It seems different areas have different ways of sorting the post.

Well a friend of mine works for Royal Mail & says there is no machine to sort out the mail, its at the descertion of the postmen working on the machines if they think its too big they pull them,
THEY ARE NOT CHECKED FOR SIZE DESPITE WHAT IS SAID BY ROYAL MAIL.
When you go to collect your letter say for instance a padded envelope you can ask that the letter is checked before paying this is your right, if it goes through the slots then you should not be charged, if the postman refuses ask to see a manager.

  • I know. These new Royal Mail letter charges are outrageous. Now if you need to send a contract 6mm in depth in a normal envelope you pay 41p for the large letter. This is the biggest legal scam I have seen in a decade. I just posted the above mentioned item on Monday and as of today it never arrived at it's destination. So same lousy serivce at a much higher price. A disgrace. :(
  • They are also very slow

I sent a customer an A4 size envelope last Monday in post - with correct postage cost and he still has not received it

It takes longer to sort large letters, so you are paying for the increased handling time.
Here I go again on my own....

Don't get me started on the new Postage rules, I posted two days ago on the ebay board about problems I am having where my two closest Post Office interpret the size rules differently. Yesterday for instance I saved almost £7 by going to a different post office..how on earth can this be right!

If, like me you buy something valuable from an overseas seller (such as on Ebay), and you have it sent to you by registered mail, be VERY VERY VERY aware that should the registered sending get lost, then do not expect to get compensated for more than £24 -yes TWENTY FOUR POUNDS, unless the seller is willing to make up the shortfall.
£24 is the maximum an overseas postal administration can claim from Royal Mail in the event of a loss.
Further, the only requirement of a postal administration is to obtain a signature on delivery. There is no 'track and trace', nor a guaranteed delivery time.
So, unless you want to risk it, find yourself a more secure mode of delivery for valuable items valued at over £24, (which, no doubt will cost you a lot more).
