Door Frame Size and Size of Door - Help!

Was wondering if somebody could please help me! I have just purchased a new doorframe. Our joiner measured up and said that we need to get a door frame that measures 838mm x 1981mm which I have now ordered. However, we need to get the door and the one that i have seen also measures 838mm x 1981mm - I asked the joiner if this would be ok and he said yes. Am about to order it but just have reservations - surely the door frame should be bigger than the actual door!

What size door would i need to fit the frame I have now bought????

The joiner should know what to get so I would just order it. Perhaps the door frames are sized to fit standard door sizes - like 838x1981.

yes when you order door frames they are named for the size of door that fits them.
