Well.. It's tough going, I have to admit.. I am finding the new job really difficult.. My boss has very high expectations and deadlines that just can't be humanly met.. I sat down with her yesterday and she was brutally honest.. She was not happy.. She is expected to move shortly to a new role but can't do so until I am up to scratch with my role and expected to look after the whole department..
I barely slept last night..just so many worries..
I had a chat again with her this morning to try and clear the air up..and then another meeting with her tomorrow, will see if she is happy with the output I have produced so far or if I am well below par.. On top of that I have had to take over the work of a colleague that was made redundant today.. I am averaging 10-12 hours + a day and it's taking its toll... I feel like I have been hit by a truck then run over by a bus..
I do enjoy my job, don't get me wrong, but a bit more support and appreciation would be welcome..
Money wise, I think I am doing ok.. Not had much time to look into it.. I have stripped my outgoings to the bare minimum, only one more direct debit to look into that requires a bit of work but should be all sorted in the next couple of weeks.. I have had to put some money aside for car insurance, service and MOT.. I was planning to take a holiday to go back to France in August, I have a family wedding to attend.. The ferry would cost me £500 to get there and at the moment I don't have that amount of money put aside in the holiday pot.. So will need to sort that out before I can restart my home fund..
Apologies for the gloomy news, hope it gets better soon..

I was made redundant about five years ago, and found another job, as did most of my ex colleagues.
From my own experience, and from what I've heard from my friends, we all found it very difficult at first in our new jobs.
Even if you are working in a field you are familiar with, there's still so much to learn, new systems, finding and remembering where all the spreadsheets are, trying to work out all the jargon, etc.
Even if your new colleagues are welcoming, I think they tend to forget how difficult it is to be new.
It took me several months to feel comfortable in my new job.
Hang on in there, it will get better, especially if the unreasonable boss moves onEarly retired - 18th December 2014

Froggy, not much that I can say beyond keep smiling and try your hardest to work smart (I know you're already working hard). Goldiegirl is spot on with her comment re. the challenges of a new workplace (and some are more challenging than others). I suppose if your new boss has issues with your performance, ask her to suggest what you should be prioritising and what could wait.
On the other hand, she may just be a psycho. I've had one of those bosses and I outlasted her0
