Chin up Froggy. To be honest, most of us are only 4 weeks away from redundancy these days, at least you know about it and have time to plan.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

  • Froggy, if I could wave a magic wand I would.

You have a year to find a new opportunity - that's excellent and you've proven before that you can do this.

Your utility bill sounds barking - you aren't clearing a backlog for a previous tenant are you?

In terms of where to start - write a list and just work through it. It's impossible to keep things in your head when you have so much going on :o

Which one do you want us to tackle first

Can you take a meter reading each day at the same time to get an idea of what you are using daily or are they trying to get the money of you upfront to pay for this years winter usage

  • Aw that's rubbish Froggy :(
Will you get a decent-ish redundancy payout?
Any way of negotiating rent with l-lord, sometimes they are more keen to keep a good tenant than risk months of voids for a higher rent?
Re: energy bills never been with that company but that does seem extortionately high for just one person - is there a real life human at the end of one of their phonelines you could ask to clarify /break it down? then you might be able to figure out whats pushing the price up?

Hope you manage to chill out a bit over the weekend in the sun maybe with a cheeky

Sorry to hear your bad news Froggy, but if there's one thing that I know to be true from following your diary, it's that you're a survivor :)

sorry to hear your news froggy but as ive said before on here im a firm believer in whats meant to be and all that, it may be tough now but its all part of the plan and will lead to better things.

rent-as above landlord maybe open to negotiation, even if its enough to cancel out the agents fee's which are extortionate!!

utilities-definitely ring and speak to someone, on both my water (metered) and gas and elec they have tried to increase the DD and I called and told them not, justified by the fact I was in credit with both and they altered, also if its not a condition of your tariff you pay by DD you could threaten to cancel the DD and pay by standing order which means you pay what you want not what they want, or just put aside money each month and pay the bill when it comes it. Even the threat may make them change their minds.

job-keep an out eye out what the markets like, update the CV and start putting a bit of money aside if you can so at least if the worst happens you have a bit to keep you going.

Most of all try not to let it get you down, everyone goes through phases like this but there always light at the end of the tunnel.

    Morning all

Thanks all for your kind messages..

Unfortunately I am not due any redundancy payout (less than 2 years service).. Spoke to landlord and he is not flexible.. It would be a year lease extension which does not suit me..

I am making some good progress on a new plan of action, thanks to great friends ;)

There should be some news in the next couple of weeks..

As Ed said it, I am a survivor, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger..

Have a great weekend, enjoy the sunshine..
