No, but good that you are exploring options. Do you want Tilly and I to come house hunting with you :D.

GG, of course you & Tilly are more than welcome to come down here hunting for vastly overpriced properties with me :D

Quick question.. Does anybody have any experience with the help to buy scheme from the government? Positives or negatives..

The new build version? Because I don't think the other flavour (existing properties) is around yet.

I've no experience with the scheme personally, but my sibling bought a new build property (Scotland) with a similar developer financed offer (their version was an equity loan over 10 years).

While I know this is different from the scheme you're referring to, it has the same problems (it's probably safe to say that new build properties are overpriced in a lot of cases (many depreciate the moment they're sold unless it's a particularly nice development), finance is available from a fairly limited range of providers (whose rates may not be great) and there's maybe a touch of moral hazard thrown in (i.e. you're tempted to buy more than you can afford because someone else is 'backing you').

On the positive side - it could be an ideal way to get on (back on) the housing ladder if you approach it the right way (i.e. only buy enough home for you, budget realistically and find a house that will be *home*).

Tbh Froggy, your circumstances probably make it seem like a decent option. You're financially savvy, down to earth and won't let imaginary money go to your head :)

What a !!!! day at work today  I feel so frustrated..
My boss has let go (same company, different departments) 2 colleagues in the space of a few weeks and given holiday to another one.. then she complains we are short staffed.. all the pressure builds up, I get lots of calls and complaints from people because the job doesn't get done..
I have been asking to be trained for the last 6 months in my colleagues tasks (in order to cover for them) but she keeps declining..Now, see the result..:( she doesn't care..

I have been in the job for a year and I still don't have objectives.. I don't even know what I am aiming for.. She does not do 1 2 1 so can't even talk to her about it.. When it comes to reviewing my yearly objectives (well, the 2 lines scribbled on a piece of paper), it lasts 5 minutes and all the comments have already been submitted, so I can't even show what I have been up to or achieved and argue my case..

Today she spent the whole day watching what I am doing.. In the meantime, work is piling up and I will have to sort it out.. What is that all about?!?!

I was supposed to go a work charity quiz night, but I can't face those people.. I just got in my car and went home.. (I did give my charity donation though).. Since then my boss keeps texting me: where are you, where are you? really?!?!? What planet is she on?

Sorry about the rant :o I am off to find a bottle of wine..

Oh dear Froggy :(. Alcohol is not a long term solution but sometimes a much needed stop gap. Enjoy :D.

    GG :)
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
