...which in a recent statement said will carry forward as payment towards future bills. They also have £151.16 owed to me on the gas statement which will be refunded in August to my bank account. Can I get this larger sum paid back to me too, why should they be allowed to keep such a large sum?

If you call them I'm sure they'll agreed to a refund or part-refund on a large amount such as that.0

Why haven't you asked Atlantic?
Why haven't you asked for your payments to be adjusted, in line with your actual consumption?
Why have you let your account build up this amount of credit?
Not exactly rocket science is it! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
The last time I dealt with Atlantic I was greatly in arrears so they hiked the dd's up. This recent statement has been the first indication that it had swung the other way in the last year. I did get to speak to them today and the letter was incorrectly worded (no explanation why) and that they would never hold onto that amount of money. So rocket science it aint.:money:0

Just check that the bills which lead to these huge credits are based on actual meter readings not estimates!!
Or you could be in the proverbial in a few months time, owing big sums.0 -
Yes they are definitely based on actual meter readings - someone came and read the meters then a few days later the statement arrived. Plus there's no 'E' next to the readings.:money:0

For an amount this large I would check the actual meter for myself and compare it to the bill. Meter readers sometimes get it wrong. Check that the meter serial number and reading are correct. If there are no problems they should return your money.
The fact that you are having the Gas credit refunded may mean that you payment plan year end for the electric is not yet due or there is a discrepancy on your account.
As always talk to the supplier. Have you called them yet?Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0 -
Yes I called them and they said that they would never hold onto such a large amount and it has in fact been put into my account this week (the letter cheekily said they'd hold onto it for future payments).
The reading they took for electricity was 20805 on July 13th, today it reads 21037 and gas has hardly moved from its reading on same date. I think their original hiking of the monthly dd was far too high and I stupidly didn't check its progress. The plus side is an unexpected lump of money to go towards updating the 1970's circuit board in the garage - joy!:money:0 -
Hi,
I`m with Atlantic too and after using every other utility company found they are very good.
My letter also said I was owed money but the money was credited to my account really quickly. Also their call centre staff are very helpful and it is an 0800 number which is great!
I wouldnt change suppliers now ( Have used British Gas Powergen Scottish Power etc)
