Can you get a (decent make) freestanding fridge (40) and freezer (60)?

Hope the title makes a bit of sense!
I'm getting an integrated fridge for the kitchen, but want a free-standing fridge/freezer to be tucked away in the utility room.
Problem is, I need the freezer space a lot more than the fridge space (since I'll already have a fridge) and most fridge/freezers to be the other way around, with the fridge bit being bigger than the freezer compartment.
Is there anything I could get (preferably a decent make like Bosch or something) that'd have more freezer space? Probably a strange request but I am worried about a potential lack of freezer space, and too much fridge space!
Cheers

Hi
We have a similar issue but went for a large kitchen fridge freezer and then a small chest freezer in the utility which works well. I have a separate husky beer fridge in the summer house which deals with beer so that helps!
I would just consider how m,uch use will you actually require for a second fridge?
if you definitely want one then Beko do something that may meet your requirement nearly http://www.kitchenappliancesforum.co.uk/shopping/products/Beko-(-U-K)-Ltd-Fridge-Freezer-Frost-Free-CDA565FS.html . Don't be out off by Beko name, many of their appliance seem to be getting reasonable reviews these days and a non plumbed in fridge freezer isn't a high spec product at teh end of the day0 -
They said decent. Beko really isn't ! We made the mistake of buying beko. 53 weeks later the compressor packed in...yes just as the warranty expired. Beko customer support is absolutely dire. After alot of phone calls and alot of persistance i managed to get a free repair but i'd never buy beko ever again. It cost us a fridge and freezer full of food and were without fridge/freezer for more than a week. In hindsight i would have bought a zanussi or bosch.0

Damn, thanks dude - I looked at what sunshine linked and was almost certain to go for that since it seemed perfect, and then I read yours right after, bah!
Such a shame though since Bosch and Zanussi don't do fridge freezers that focus more on the freezer part0 -
I would make your own mind up if I was you. Everyone with any make of white appliance will have a bad story. As you say you have a specific requirement that I would imagine most manufacturers don't supply. I would say our Siemens fridge freezer is pretty much 50/50 split on the height but as the freezer compartments are always much better insulated the capacity will generally be much lower
If you google the model number without the "S" on the end you can get the white ones for under £300. Just take out an extended warranty which may cost £100 for 5 years(?)and you are sorted for under £400
Google "Beko CDA565F"0 -
I purchased a Beko LA620W135 larder fridge from Electrical123 back in April for £140.65. I use it in the garage to store drinks and other stuff I can't fit in the kitchen integrated fridge. It's been fine so far.
Do you have a garage? If so, go for larder fridge...perhaps second hand... and a box freezer.
I also wouldn't take out an extended warranty.

I recently had a problem with my 10 year old condensed tumble dryer. Got it sorted for £40 all in.:T:T:T0 -
I would have agreed with you sunshine...if it hadn't been such an ordeal to get Beko to send someone out. Whilst I suppose you could argue "you got the repair for free despite being out of warranty" i had to jump through hoops to get it. I was hung up on multiple times...and not for being rude or aggressive or anything like that as i know that gets you nowhere! They really couldn't have cared less and if i hadn't perservered i would have been cheaper to buy a new f/f than to pay for the repair. OH's parents just bought a Beko f/f about a week ago...i think they had forgotten about the probs we had with ours so i wish they'd have asked me first. To be fair until it breaks beko seems ok...it's when it breaks is the bit i have issue with.
We also have a zanussi oven that came complete with a factory fault (fan wired up to be permanently on without the oven on!) ..difference is they were out next day to fix without having to spend hours in a queue or hung up on multiple times. Perhaps just lucky but it hasn't put me off buying/recommending zanussi and when the beko f/f next dies i'll probably get a zanussi.
Our specific requirement was less than 550mm wide...there were literally about 5 different frost-free fridge/freezers in the whole country at the time that would suit... the one sunshine links to is our one!0 -
Raaaaaaaaaaaaargtggggggggggggh, good spot, didn't see that it wasn't very wide - need something 600mm really, since that's the way the utility room has been designed
Garage is an option, although to be honest I was kinda planning on actually using that for my car!0 -

Might be worth measuring garage space to fit in a box freezer and then perhaps you could get a big chest freezer.;)0 -
Ahh, yeah I was thinking of that thanks!
Got a bit of a problem now too, had my heart set on a Bosch, even if it didn't have a larger freezer compartment, but the only ones that have almost a 50/50 ratio (ie the basic one, and Classix range) don't have auto defrost - only the ones with tiny freezers do, argh!
So sorry to ask, any other brands worth a look? Zanussi you say?0 -
I really think you will struggle because of what I mentioned above about insulation etc. If you are looking at litreage capacity then i doubt you will even find 50/50 spilt as the freezer compartment would need to take up about 70% of the overall space to get a 50/50 internal loading sopace if you get what i mean
How about a small-ish larder freezer and then mount a small larder fridge above that on a strong shelf
Do you really need another fridge, if not get a 60cm wide chest freezer as you will get more in it than an upright?0
