A Payment A Day - Part 9
Comments

Hi everyone. Sorry to butt in. Have been reading this thread for a while and love the idea of a payment a day (in fact, I've just made one myself!) but I wonder how it all works when you have a strict budget and every penny is accounted for - how do you do it?! I've just started my debt free journey but basically I'm giving myself a budget at the start of every month, then taking out a weekly amount in cash and using any surplus to pay my CCs. So if I then also make a PAD, I'll go over my budget and into the overdraft
Sorry - probably being really thick!
Very rarely do people have every single penny budgeted for for the entire month. Alot of people think they do though, I thought I did! But the odd magazine here and chocolate bar there is all PAD money to me!! I put my spare change from my purse in a big jar at the end of every week and I round my account down to the nearest figure on a daily basis - if its already rounded down I just PAD a pound (or more if im feeling flush!).
FF is right though, it works for different people in different ways, I guess you just have to find which way works for you!Biggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0 -

however I hope to redeem myself with a PAD of £1168.99 to CLEAR sainsburys CC!!! woo hoo another one down!
Hey copperjar! Pad works however you want it to work - I pay off extra to my cards each month but then I have a spends account. Any additional pads come from that, so it might be rounding down the account, or padding an amount I have saved somewhere, whatever really! I'm padding £12.70 a day this month based on all my payments added together and then divided by 30, but some days (like today) I have some spare change so it's £12.98 today!
Yesterdays total was £403.20! Well done everyone!!

You're not being thick at all.
If there really is no way you can possibly reduce your outgoings, the alternative is to find ways to nudge your income upwards.
There are threads here for that too.

So I've been keeping a secret - I'm getting married  (aye right! :rotfl:)
On a slightly more serious note I have something to tell you - I'm a man  (o.k I'm making jokes because I'm nervous but I'll be serious for a minute)

Please don't say anything on my FB page though because I've not told family yet!!
Congratulations Mary.

Thanks for the welcome guys and the advice! Right, think I'd like to give this a go if its okay with everyone that I jump in! I'll tend to have a BIG payment on payday, then a medium sized one at the end of each week, and tiny ones the other days! That's the plan anyway.
Todays payment £6
And if I could do tomorrow's too - £37.50

Hi everyone
Im quite new to the forums (although have wandered around MSE site for a while) and have just found PAD - I love the idea! Can I just join in? Hope that's ok as really I could pay off / save a little more on a regular basis. Can someone let me know the etiquette???
Oh, and congratulations Mary!!!

No rules Dizzy except bold, big, colourful or all three pads... as much or as little as you like, as often as you like. I quite often don't pad for a few days but the other day i pad'd 3 times.
