Well I've bitten the bullet and decided to change energy supplier. Although it looks complicated, energyhelpline seem to be giving an enhanced cashback on Scottish Power's cheapest online deal. They're giving £50 back if you start the process before 21st October (SP do have cancellation fees). SP's cheapest deal looks like it's just about the same price as my current supplier (npower - who seem to have woeful customer service at the moment). However, even at the same price I get £50 back at some point. Also, I've just recently had a mystery payment from npower into my account of £71. I imagine that is something to do with them miscalculating gas prices a year or two back. I had heard that the regulator told them to repay. I've also ensured that I got my £100 credited for the anniversary of my account (annual DD discount).
I won't spend it all at once.
