DLA advice needed..

My husband got awarded high rate mobility, Low rate care in October last year, he was awarded it for 3 yrs

Anyway...

To cut a long story short, his health is deteriorating, I have had to cut my hrs at work to care for him, I can see myself having to give up work in the next few months as he is not going to get any better

Is it possible for him to apply again in hope of getting Middle/high rate care?

and if so is there any chance they can look at his claim and reduce the high rate mobility? he is very dependant on the car we have on motability as without this he would be housebound, so he is a little reluctant to reapply just incase they shorten/reduce his claim, which results in him not having transport to get around.

Would it better if we waited till the 3yrs is up when we have to renew his claim.

Has anyone else had any similar dealings with DLA and what was the outcome?

Many thanks

I think you should visit your docor and ask his opinion then go and speak to someone maybe cab to help filling out the form dont leave it you need it now, if you are already having to cut your working hours, its only what you are entitled to hun so give it a go

    Good luck with everthing x

I was intially rewarded Low rate care/mobility in 2006 but last year I had a breakdown & started selfharming/trying to overdose. :(

I phoned them up & told them that my care needs had changed so they sent me a form to fill out. I also sent them a report from my pyschiatrist to back up my claim & was awarded Middle rate care/low rate mobility so it can be done.
I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.

Only listen to this is you want to lose the car, physical disability is totally diffrent to MH issues and I would take advice first before taking any action if the HRM is your lifeline, I changed from HRM/MRC to high on both componants after asking for a supersession but only when my conditions went totally downhill and I was assured HRC because my night time needs had changed to needing care both day and night.

But it can and thats why people should take advice from WR before making any choices, there have been plenty of threads here about people who have lost out when asking for a supersession and anyone thinking about asking for one needs to know that.
