Saniflow

Does anyone have any experience with using saniflow? We've just had a new en suite built using a saniflow for drainage. The shower takes an age to drain, huge shower tray so it doesn't quite overflow but almost. Sink is fine. The toilet that once flushed fine now sends ALL the contents up to greet you rather than flushing it away, then in its own time the water gradually drains but with out taking anything with it. Now as far as I know the only thing put down it is loo paper, but it def seems blocked. Please don't tell me we shouldn't be using loo paper! any suggestions on clearing this as the plumber seems to be sooooo busy!

  • Loo paper is fine (other items such as sanitary towels aren't). You might have a blockage in your waste pipe (dia.32mm am I right?) or the shredding system of said Saniflow could be blocked a bit. I would dismantle the Saniflo waste pipe from the unit....(wear gloves if that makes you feel better) and push a soft rod down the waste pipe, hoping to clear what's there.
  • I can honestly say that I have never heard a good thing said about any saniflow or macerator, they seem riddled with problems!

    Good luck

Saniflo engineer phoned and said it sounded like we had a blockage and therefore wouldn't be covered by our guarantee and the cost would be £94 to unblock it. I said no-one other than me and my husband used the loo and nothing other than the obvious and loo paper had been flushed down there and its only been in for 5 months. He then said well if the blockage was just loo roll then the cost would be in between £70 - £90 to unblock it. Hmm I thought, so I contacted my plumber who'd put the pesky thing in and he was amazed about the cost of clearing loo roll that should be able to be flushed away as usual. so he popped round this morning and has cleared it free of charge.
Now my toilet is a corner loo, it has a regulation 6 litre flush, but I wonder if its just not enough to flush away into the mascerator? think I'll change to thinner loo roll and send my hubby off to the downstairs loo!
