just incase u guys wonderd what happedn the banks froze there acounts and the police are now invloved. im not sure what the company is called sorry. he keeps saying he didnt know what he was doing but i highly doubt it.the more i hear about it the more i wanna smack him. did i mention she works in a bank so she will problably be fired.

So when she gets fired, that will be her and her 2 year old out in the streets and she will more than likely never be able to get a job involving finances ever again. Sure, she has made her own bed and all but bloody nora. Did you actually sit her down and tell her (not in an email) that you were going to the police and had some doubts about the legitimacy of this before doing it?
It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.
  • It's very sad to hear that there is a child who's likely to suffer for this, but asides from that it's hard to have any sympathy for your friend. She can't have been unaware that what her boyfriend was doing was extremely shady, especially since she works in a bank! Stupid people.

She never said that she told the police did she? In her original post she asked if she should and in the most recent one it says 'the police are now involved' - it may well have been the banks who realised there was something amiss and contacted the police.
:D Finally decided to start growing up when it comes to money!:j

Course he knew what he was doing, saying he didn't is going to be his defence. :rotfl: Hope he gets the book thrown at him and decides to clean up his act from then on he has a relationship and a child to think of. Loser.

Your friend is lucky to have you as a friend, hope she keeps her job.....

    Happy moneysaving all.

hob, the accounts may be frozen for some time, yuor friend needs to get another account opened straight away and see that her wages and everything else are transferred to that one. Same for any debits coming out. If something's paid into that frozen account l'm not sure if it would be returned, hope so because if not her wages could go in and yet she wouldn't be allowed to withdraw them.

If she works in a bank l find it hard to believe she didn't realise, maybe she wanted to hope it would be okay but l'm glad it's come to light this quick. It's a harsh lesson for her to learn but could have been worse, she could have been helping to spend that money over a long period of time and she would be in trouble too.

Basically you are not allowed to profit from crime, apart from any punishment, custodial, financial, community service. So if money has been received dishonestly, even if spent, it will have to be paid back. So common sense tells me that the accounts won't be unfrozen until the crime is unravelled. (I have no professional kowledge)

Unless things have changed very recently, bank employees were required to take a course on money laundering (how to spot it, not how to do it!). So I fail to see how she could plead ignorance.
