In search of a cheap way to weed the drive. Can you help?

Am a bit worried about the run off though because the house is on a hill and the driveway is beside the house which means that downhill from the drive is my lawn.I refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.
(Ok, one of them is powerless, spiders can be nasty.)
As of the last count I have cleared [STRIKE]23.16%[/STRIKE] 22.49% of my debt.

I've bought one of those scrapy tools designed specifically for clearing weeds in brick paving. It's a very stiff wire brush with a metal spike at each end for tougher roots and it has a long handle so you don't have to kneel & can work upright. It's very good, but boring to do. I don't use any chemicals on the garden as we are organic gardeners. My Mum swears by boiling water or salt. I haven't even used salt myself in case it is damaging to wildlife but I've seen her do it. She wets the weeds a bit so that the salt sticks, then pours it on and leaves it. It does seem to kill her weeds. The other thing she reckons makes the weeds in our brick paving worse is that we don't sweep it as much as she sweeps hers (!)....she reckons that if dust & soil build up in the cracks, then weed seeds will obviously get established there so not sweeping regularly makes the problem worse. Sounds logical, but can't say I'm doing any extra sweeping.2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0
