I think this man did not see any future - only when there is no future people wipe out their contribution to the world. People break more easily than we think and some are more fragile than others. In the present climate this is particualrly easy. When was the last time any of us heard something positive on the radio or the TV. In fact, I had to change the radio station on our alarm clock - now we wake up to lovely classical music rather than the latest economic disaster or political idiocy.
As to the reception on this forum - well my husband asked a question last October. It was simple - he (a statistician) could not work out the interest we have been charged on one of our CC (and the differences of what we've been charged month by month are so large that even I think they have a bug in their programme or are scamming). So the question was 'has this happened to anyone else?'. A pack of patronising gits jumped on him to explain that if one gets into debt one pays for it. Guess what? We knew that - and the question was a fairly technical one.
As it happens my husband refuses to ever look at the forum again - this is his choice. And luckily he was not in emotional but mathematical distress. What if he was in the state I have seen some other people post? How is it helpful to send the kind of post I see from time to time?
I have met only good will and wisdom here - and this is what I give back. It is so needed in this troubled times.

Thanks for those posts, they give some understanding of why such an awful thing might happen. I just feel so sad that little children seem to be quite regularly being murdered by their own parents now....perhaps it is not a new phenomenon but as you say, these kind of things are always in the news and makes me wonder what kind of society we have become.0 -
From reports in other newspapers, it seems that Mr Case was coming to the end of his IVA, but that tragic morning, had received a new credit card bill for £7,000. It appears that his wife was paying her car loan with the credit card and buy presents for herself and the children...It was claimed that Mrs Case owed up to £7,000 after a recent spending spree. A friend said: 'When that credit card bill hit the doormat Andy must have hit the roof.
...that's what they're saying in the Daily Mail - how much is speculation, one can only guess.
This is a terrible, tragic and awful case, to kill four people, two of them toddlers, over debt.:hello:0 -
Nice to see what kind of reaction the guy would've received if he'd come here first, what with possibly suffering such mental anguish!
Yes, we should sit back and say, if they suffered mental health issues, we should be more sympathetic. there should be more help out there for sufferers of mental illness, and their families.
Same as parents whose children suffer learning difficulties and other impairments. The parents are 'bad parents' and the kids are 'out of control'.
It's about time (some) people stopped being so ignorant. Tragedy strikes the world every day, in one form or another. MSE had always been about support, but I, too, have noticed the unnecessary comments on here. In fact, I myself was left in absolute tears by something said to me. I am struggling to sort a lot out for my kids and don't need to be judged.
If the father wasn't ill, and was as evil as some people would like to believe, then what good will arguing about it do? I believe in taking something positive from everything in life.
Perhaps (some) people should turn their attention to supporting people instead of slating them?I've got nothing else but I've got my family.

I could not agree more with climbing the ladder out of debts comments. While it's easy for some people to say "how dare he murder his wife and children", we were not there and have no idea what was going on in his head. We could say perhaps something snapped in his head and why did he not just take his own life, but we ARE NOT ON THIS FORUM TO JUDGE ANYONE and while we are entitled to opinions, perhaps in this instance it would be best if we kept them to ourselves. We need to encourage people who come onto this forum for help and remember, life is precious, so enjoy every day.If you've nothing decent to say, perhaps you shouldn't say anything.

Hear Hear, Could not agree more.
I believe anyone who wanted to be really dishonest would not use a site like MSE. There is already enough information out there on the Internet for those who would Fiddle and Con. Please Folks lets treat anyone who posts here at face value, Support and Don't Judge. We have all been sold a Dream by the Banks and CC companies. Who here hasn't been offered a consolidation loan, or an increased credit limit?
We are all on DFW, because we Owe or have Owed. So come on give folks the benefit of doubt, and treat others as you would expect to be treated yourself.
