I'm sorry to post again but this site has really helped me before and I was hoping someone could help again. I'm not that good with technical things so I would really appreciate it if someone could explain a couple of things.
A few weeks ago, I noticed my yahoo account had sent a spam email claiming to be from me but it wasn't. I followed the advice I was given on here, I scanned with Malwarebytes which didn't find anything and I changed my password. I created a new gmail account and started using that one instead and left my yahoo one alone. Now, I've signed back into it using my ipod touch (I haven't signed in using the PC since this first happened) and I've noticed another spam email in spam folder claiming to be from me, so I can see it's happened again even with a new password. Now, I'd like to delete the account completely because I just don't feel safe with it anymore but I have a few questions.
1) I want to delete all my personal info from the account. Is it safe to sign in on my PC? I'm worried if I sign in I might get a virus. Would it be safer to access it on my ipod touch instead?
2) I have a few thousand emails that will need to be deleted. Some of them I would have liked to have kept. If I transfered them over to my gmail account, would that also bring the spam over and they'd use that account too?
3) I want to delete everything in my inbox, sent folders and contacts. Will that be all I need to delete? Could there be any other personal information in my account? and then how do I make sure the account is permentely deleted? I prefer using my gmail one now and I just want to rid of the yahoo account now.

Deleting and closing your previous account should be easy, however a suspect a little harsh. I have had emails sent to myself a few times in the past (spoof mailing is common), it does not mean your PC is infected with a virus, besodes which a quick virus scan would delete any rogues on your pc.
It should be safe to re-open your pc to delete your old account, but be aware this kind of spoof mail could just as easily be sent via your Ipod account, it does not mean your Ipod is infected, much the same way as your pc.
It might be a good idea to empty your previous account and create a new one (but dont delete your old one, keep it for those irritating sites that request your email address that you dont want to give).
If you just want rid of your old yahoo account, simply delete all of it, your old account will still be floating around, but you will not see it unless you look for it, leaving you free to create as many new accounts as you like, without worry of infecting either of them from your previous account.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Thanks. I just feel like deleting it because I don't use it that much anymore and I'd rather just remove all my details from there and not have to think about it again. I doubt these emails are going to stop now and I definitely prefer gmail to yahoo, so I might as well just delete it now.
I just didn't want to go to the account online and infect the computer or anything. I only use webmail for yahoo. I don't have it set up as the email account on my ipod but it would just be easier to delete the emails using the PC because the ipod only displays about 10 at a time. It would take forever that way!
I will spend some time tomorrow clearing out the account and then I'll close it.
Thanks for your help.0
