First time renting....costs breakdown

Options
Hi all,

I have searched the forums, but can't really find what I'm after. It'll be my first time renting in the west midlands area, I'm just looking for a breakdown on council tax, electricity, water etc to roughly see what I'd be paying out on a monthly basis.

If anyone could help I'd be grateful :D

Many thanks

What are you renting? Flat/ bedsit/ house. How many bedrooms. Yous should be able to find council tax bands on the local council website to give you some idea

It will be just a 1 bed flat for myself, never thought about the council website. I'll have a look :)

For a family of 4 in a 4 bed house my electricity is about £40 a month, so for a 1 bed flat it shouldn't be more than £20, providing you have gas central heating. Electric heaters/ night storage costs an absolute fortune, and night storage heaters are rubbish! I'm not sure about gas - our meter stopped going round a year ago and although we told them they haven't sorted it out yet :). Water shouldn't be much. I would think if you budgeted £100 a month that should cover elec, gas and water quite comfortably.

Cheers for the reply, that's not as bad as I thought to be honest :)
