Curry's delivery damage to house

Curry's delivery men damaged my floor when delivering an appliance. They are now denying it and therefore Curry's are refusing to pay for the repairs in spite of photographic evidence taken immediately after showing marks left from the scraping and the consequent damage. The delivery men were rude and aggressive and I am not at all surprised that they deny all knowledge of what happened. Has anything like this happened to anyone else and how did they deal with it?

I've seen it happen once, when some drivers snapped off a pipe from someone's house. Eventually, they paid up (as it was an owner-driver, so had to claim from them).

What's the reason for not admitting liability?

If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

I had the same issue with Comet, they tried to argue that because I'd signed their delivery sheet, I hadn't noticed the damage until afterward, they were not liable. I ended up sending a strongly worded letter to their head office and after they had sent out the delivery manager to do a proper investigation they admitted full liability. It was then passed on to their insurance assessors who settled costs for a complete new floor. Keep on at them.
  • Good advice, just keep on their backs, write letters, make phone calls, send emails - let them know you arent going away!
