Leaking Boots

Hi, My husband bought a pair of motorcycle boots 11 months ago. Advert for boots stated they were 100% waterproof. Coming home from work last week in the rain he found that they wasn't. They appear to be leaking through the stitching.
He went back to shop he bought them from on Saturday and they laughed at him and told him he was taking the **** trying to return them as faulty after 11 months.
In the past he has had boots that have lasted 5-6 years without any problems.
Does anyone think its worth pursuing
Thanks

Within the first 6 months the fault is assumed to be inherent. After that its up to the customer to prove that they were and that the fault hasnt simply appeared through misuse or wear n tear.
Not sure who would be able to do a independent report on motorcycle boots though :SYou keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
He has only just found out they leak, was it the first time he wore them or has it never rained in Lancashire for the past 11 months.
I would pursue them for compensation and free boots for life.0 -
Are they leather? If they are they need to be treated to insure they remain waterproof through their like.0

Thanks for your helpful reply cajef - yes it does rain in Lancashire & no it wasn't the first time he has worn them but would have expected them to be useable in all weathers for longer than 11 months. They are leather boots and are treated regularly and as said earlier other boots have always lasted a lot longer.
Seeing as we didn't get anywhere with the shop might try our luck with a letter to manufacturer & see what happens.0
