I got the bags above in orange and pink to match our theme!

I cant find the scoops i brought as my internet is touch and go at the mo and ebay doesnt like working for me, but they were £1.99 and pack of 3 clear plastic scoops in different sizes - will try and find the info for you all though.

12oz is huge.... It will hold about as much as a bag of sugar, possibly more... Get a measuring jug or scales and weigh it out to get an idea of volume??

    Oooops! That is huge

Can you tell that ounces mean absolutely nothing to me?! D'oh!

An ounce is about 25g or the weight of a medium egg.

When we bought sweets as kids we'd get a quarter (of a pound) which is 4oz or 100grams (rounded down).

I actually think £10 a kilo is expensive for sweets, that's £1 a quarter, but then I could easily visit a fab local sweet shop and choose from dozens upon dozens of things all at less than that.

Sadly I can't though as I'm diabetic, and sugar free cola bottles just don't do it for me. :o

Hi Kitschkitty -Obviously if you are diabetic its not something for you - I didnt want a sit down meal as I am veggie and preferred a buffet so I wasnt the only saddo eating soggy veggie lasagne!
My FIL2B is diabetic and so I am hoping to incorporate some diabetic sweeties and some strawberries so he doesnt feel totally left out. I think I will label all the sweets and certain types contain gelatine or other ingredients that veggies cant eat. I know it complicates things but if its done prettily I think it wont detract and people can make advised food choices so they will appreciate it. I need to look into the coeliac thing too as we have a couple in my extended family.
I was wondering if you were having a cheesy cake or if you have a special recipe or binning the cake thing altogether? I have just knocked up a dessert for FIL's b/day but can never find a suitable cake recipe for birthday type cakes. (he is not insulin dependant - my friend who is, chooses to eat sugary stuff and then as he says "shoot up" afterwards, I don't know if that is good for him but he seems healthy at face value).

You can eat sweet foods as part of a balanced diet, so I will be having cake!

The reason were not having a candy buffet is that we simply don't think our guests would appreciate it -it's just not their thing. :o

In all honesty drinks are worse - most places the only sugar free options are diet coke, tea, coffee, or water - very boring.

But on your wedding day you have to enjoy yourself, so as long as I take my tablets and don't make a habit of eating lots of sugary food's it's fine. Also eating sweet things as snacks is worse than eating them as part of a meal.

I think labeling stuff is a good idea if you are concerned. Rather than labeling everything could you make a little note sheet for the table of whats good for who or maybe just a simple code like V, GF and SF on each tag would be discreet but easy to see so people can easily choose?

That's such a good idea - Ive only been loking online and bargain shops but so far nothing startling. I wish we were nearer one but live out in the lakes so the petrol to Newcastle cost would outweigh the saving I think. You have given me a good idea though - I
know someone who runs a pub, I could maybe see where he gets his wholesale stuff from and see if they do sweeties too. Hmmm, Thanks for that VK.
