Aldi shower

I need a new shower and came across this today.

http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/offers/special_buys3_14913.htm

Seems very good for the price. Anyone got any experience of this brand?

Only 9.5kw though so be prepared for cold water or no pressure in the winter.

We have a 13kw which gives us constant temps/pressure all year round

My current shower does not go cold i presume its faulty, as i have all the wiring and plumbing in place do you think it will be an easy swap ?

You can adjust it for bottom, side or rear pipe entry although mine was the latter and I had to cut a bit of the plastic back out to make the pipe connection. It has a screw fixing hole at the bottom right rear and a choice of 2 at the top rear left and right side.

Make sure that your existing wiring is man enough for the job if your own shower is of a lesser rating.

I might have the instructions somewhere if I have a good look. Otherwise check out the redring website, they might have a download there

I've yet to come across a 13kW shower?? The highest I've ever seen is 10.5kW; can you provide a link or name for the shower?

I bought one from Aldi's last year which was a Galaxy electric shower. I have had previously a 10.5kW shower and the Galaxy which was a 9.5kW and I can honestly say that I could not tell the difference in the 1kW.

The heat exchanger in the Galaxy shower seems very good and you do get a fairly powerful shower.

Please ensure that the shower is installed professional; 9.5kW and 10.5kW shower should be installed with RCD and 10mm2 T+E cable

The old shower is 8.5k , is there a way i can check the wiring im pretty sure when it was fitted he used the highest rating cable it is very thick cable that's used and its wired up with its own rcd in the consumber box

I looked on the redring site but couldn't see this particular shower i presume they have slightly changed the look of it, whats your model number ?

The model I bought from Aldi from last year was a Galaxy Aqua 2000 equivlent
  • The first electric shower we had was only 6.5kw, then when it broke we went 'upmarket' and our new one was 7.5kw, neither ever gave us problems, so I imagine, 9.5kw would be more than adequate under normal use!
