in Credit cards
I am wondering if anyone could give me some advice. I was on a trip to Liverpool and me and my family went to a restaurant for dinner. After the meal I paid with my visa debit card, but there was a problem with the chip and pin reader so the waitress said " i'll get the one behind the bar." So no bother I thought. When I got back home (I live in Ireland) I noticed on my statement that I had been charged twice. So I emailed the place and they said. "send us the statement and we will refund the money."
Now I aint to sure about sending a bank statement to a total stranger. For one its an invasion of privacy if nothing else. Dont want to be a pain in the !!! about it but surely they have a record they can look up to get the details. Just wondered if anyone had any ideas.
cheers

Has that amount actually been charged (booked as a transaction) or has it just come off the “available balance”,
the money is on “hold”?
If it is the latter, it is likely to rectify itself, once the transaction gets actually booked.
The second, erroneous hold will fall off.0 -
If you don't want to send a copy of the statement to the restaurant then start a chargeback procedure with your bank in Ireland.
They will then arrange the refund but might take a little time to sort out.0 -
Scan it in/photocopy it, blank out all personal data, and send a printout/copy of it.Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries0 -
We used to ask for this with Bank statements for various reasons. We asked them to send a copy or scan and blank out the personal data and all other transactions except the ones we needed to see.0
