Best place to buy used car?

I'm looking at buying the new shape ford fiesta, looking at getting a 09 plate, are there any places you know that are cheap for fiestas? Would like a diesel, i know theres some less well known sites selling pre-reg models and passing the saving on etc..

    Several options.

Try buying new from a broker -they arent all bad and a few are owned by the dealers to allow them to pump out nationally at low profit. Autobytel is one that springs to mind. Often a new car can be had for a very similar price to a year old one (especially a new model which still has decent residuals).

Visit a dealer - they can all tap into Ford Direct online and source you what you want (probably even match your colour and interior spec) as the volume of cars coming through is good.

Keep an eye on the auctions - Admittedly most will go through Ford closed auctions but some of the finance companies may take advantage of higher residuals early on to move a few on.

Try a wanted ad in Gumtree - Focus on Southampton, Essex, Bridgend etc - anywhere where there is a ford plant. These guys switch cars every 9 months and for the most part cant stand the dealers as the px's they offer are not too hot. They also are allowed to buy several cars a year so if they are not changing, Uncle Bob may well be.
