Why doesn`t the silly mare sell the btl`s.

I don't think she's silly at all. Personally I think she's running a scam. She's trying to use the big stick of publicity to get concessions from her creditors, allowing her to save money. It's like those "consumer help" columns in the papers. Companies (financial or other) will have fobbed off consumers. But as soon as they find that a newspaper is involved they bend over backwards to "put things right" and the consumers usually gets a small sweetener as well. Ms Beg is basically trying to force her creditors into a position where either they give her concessions they don't deserve, or she will blacken their name in a national newspaper. I would think that while people on forums such as this one understand that she should sell the BTLs to meet her obligations, many people reading her column may not. All they may see is big financial institutions "bullying" someone who is "broke". That she isn't broke is the key difference between the image she tries to project and reality.

SHe doesn;t say how much she owes, and there's no SOA or spending diary! She sounds like a silly fool who wants to shirk her responsibilities by saying 'i'm pregnant' 'i have a baby', but she planned to have the baby !!!!!!!

But in this case, who is the greater fool? The borrower or the lender?

Ridiculous, and yes, I agree it could be dangerous. Where's her sense of responsibility?

She has a sense of responsibility to herself and only herself.

THis is why I dislike the BBC website - it is lazy journalism with no responsibility or sense of duty, which is to inform, not provide voyeristic entertainment.

Dear me, that sounds like the BBC in the fifties. :)

These days it's all about social X. Where X is responsibility/inclusion/your word here.

And for just about everyone - if she annoys you - why are you reading it?!

Yes but "more normal" DFW might be either less interesting or, how can I word this, more upsetting. Either the BBC wouldn't want to write about it or they think the public wouldn't read it.

Then again, what is a "typical" DFW?

A typical DFW would be someone who can't easily clear the debt by liquidising a few assets?

She is, she's missing out on those precious first days with her baby, all for what seems to be a publicity stunt. I hope she lives to regret it - lots. Poor wee baby is all I can think about :(:(:(

Errr because some of us buy TV license and/or are customers of her banks. When she defaults on payments, the bank spends money chasing her, asks for payment holiday it indirectly hurts us and our savings.

Besides she's a liar she has huge equity in BTL and is using this platform to manipulate and get something for free at a cost to all those honest bank customers and shareholders or people with pensions invested in bank shares.

She has the money to pay, nobody forced her to buy all the houses stopping a few FTBers from buying a home and by not paying she's a BIG FAT THIEF.

And why is reading her "missives" and hence increasing her measure of "popularity" and hence helping her "career" going to help with any of that? Surely a boycott is a more logical answer.

If no one reads and no one cares, the BBC aren't going to waste their time and our money.

Then everything that flows from that, will then flow in reverse from that.
