Unresponsive Script Message

Hi,
Does anyone know the reason why I keep getting a Unresponsive Script :mad:message when I'm using Firefox(latest edition). It gives me the option to continue or stop but it's happening more & more often and it's driving me nuts plus everything slows down. Friend suggested it might have something to do with Java and suggested disabling it. I'm no techincal expert and reluctant to try this without expert advice.
Any advice most gratefully received.

Does it happen on one specific web site? The problem is often caused by poor web site programming and is not necessarily related to your computer as such.
It can be caused by your internet connection being interrupted at the wrong moment or by your computer not being quick enough to meet the requirements of the software the web site is trying to run. It may possibly be related to extensions you have installed. However I'd probably assume the web site is at fault first.
I think your friend was referring to disabling JavaScript, which is a programming language used to write scripts (software run within web pages to provide interactive features). The down side of disabling JavaScript is that it may prevent some web sites working properly (although many will work without it). In Firefox the JavaScript setting is either on or off. However there are various Firefox extensions to disable it on certain named web sites only without disabling it universally for every web site.0 -
Many thanks for taking the time to reply and explain it. Until a few months ago we were using AOL and then switched to SKY. Did have the problem with AOL but seemed to appear when I was trying to relax with a game of bingo on JACKPOT JOY and it was a regular problem. Have tended to notice it happens when using AOL web mail, Jackpot Joy plus a couple of other sights but it's certainly been occuring more often recently.Does it happen on one specific web site?
