Electricity rates by property management
Hi
I have a question and i am sure that someone on here can help me as i cant seem to get anywhere with my property management company. i live in a rented flat which is opperatated by a property management and i get charged for my electricity by this copmany but each month they seem to charge me a different price per unit for example
01-02-10 - 28-2-10
Units used 862 price per unit 0.10p =£86.21
01-03-10 - 31-3-10
Units used 898 price per unit 0.91p = £82.51
01-04-10 - 30-4-10
Units used 657 price per unit 0.95p = £62.48
01-05-10 - 31-2-10
Units used 623 price per unit 010.6p = £65.95
01-06-10 - 30-6-10
Units used 343 price per unit 017.1p = £58.65
so my question is are they allowed/ is it legal for them just to change the rate on a monthly basis?
PLEASE HELP!!!

The average cost per unit used will vary according to how many you use. Ask them for a more accurate breakdown of the two-tier structure they are using so you can see where their totals are coming from. They must provide you with this full tariff information.0

As they are essentially reselling without a licence, they are not allowed to make a profit.
Presumably they are simply taking the total charge they incur and distributing that pro-rate between each flat based on the recorded usage of that flat.
The reason for the variation won't be because the unit rates they are being charged change, but because of something such as a standing charge they may get billed. Obviously the lower the total consumption, the bigger the effect of the standing charge."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Techically they are not meant to charge you anymore than the supplier of your property does. what you could do if you like is call the national electricity helpline number and find out who supplies the electricity to the property(main meter) of which your sub meter will be connected to and then find out the charges that they will be charging your letting agents. This may be hard to do if they have fixed the rates or one a special business rate but it might give you a rough idea.0
