P4D is one of a few that I use, not necessarily the cheapest but I have used them without problem all over the world. They use DHL, it will cost £6.99 plus VAT which gives £50 insurance, another pound or so for more insurance, but check out their website.
    www.p4d.co.uk
    1. Home 48 (UK to UK) - £6.99 + VAT

Your parcel will be collected by a DHL driver and delivered nationwide within 2 working days. 95% are delivered the next working day.

£100 of cover for additional £2
£250 of cover for additional £5
£500 of cover for additional £10
£750 of cover for additional £15
£1000 of cover for additional £20

Alternatively there is a cheap courier thread on here, I will try and link to it.

Just for the record, I always use p4d for my parcels, they have always come up trumps, even when I recommended them to another family member, same great service.

Only drawback is waiting in all day for them, but prices and service is great, and you can pay by paypal, so if you sell bits on ebay and use your paypal account, I find it makes life sooooo much easier.

collectmyparcel do the same service. With them you can get a ref number to take it to the DHL depot. Do p4d not have the same?

The DHL man comes to me and then issues the JJDOO tracking number, I don't know if you can go to the depot but I prefer not to as it is so far away.

"Best" OR "cheapest". Pick one only.

With couriers I've always found that you get what you pay for.
