I've been considering a new laptop now for a few months and I think I'm been drawn towards these Acer laptops

with a special interest in http://www.aceroutlet.com/PRD_ProductDetail.aspx?ProdID=4476

or alternatively http://www.aceroutlet.com/PRD_ProductDetail.aspx?ProdID=4656

Im looking at the first one because of the Blue Ray Disk, the second one doesn't seem to have one if it had I'd go for it.

It is silly to ask the question 'are Acer's any good' different people will have different opinions but I'd appreciation opinions on the speck and on Acer computers in general. Is there anything in this speck you'd advise against, and anything in particular I should watch out for if it is not already in the above? What's the three key elements I should look for or guard against?

I'm not into games, would be used mainly for the net, and office work.

My present laptop is a Dell and I've had it now since 2004 and it has given me very little bother but I dislike they way they kind of push you to make add-ons, a bit like Rynaire , and before you realize it you've blown your budget. My budget £600 very top.

Oh yes one last question anyone know of any good deals on these laptos at the moment :)

I have had 2x Acer laptops, my wife has also had 2 & our neice has an Acer desktop. I would buy Acer again as I thnk they provide value for money - although its a closer equation today than a year or two ago

I have Acer laptops, mine runs better and quieter than my girlfriends dell. Never had any problems with any of them. Good value for money though I did just buy a compaq with better specs than your two cheaper from Ebuyer but it seems its sold out (less the bluray player).

Check out Argos Outlet theres some good laptops on there for your price range. I have no idea what you mean by "three key elements" but on a laptop I'd personally look for hard drive speed and capacity and the larger the ram the better. Probably n draft wireless.

Purchased a netbook which I was very happy with until 18 months when the motherboard had to be replaced. Has never been the same since.
