Are you sure? I thought the 1874 Births and Deaths Registration Act made it necessary for the father to at the registration as well as the mother if the baby was born out of wedlock.
In the 1953 Births and Death Registration Act it's a bit more complicated because the mother can add the father's name without him being present if there are legal papers produced proving that a certain man is the father.
There are some variations in the 2007 Amendment but no dramatic changes.0 -
Hi, I'm just going by what I remember when I registered both mine. In 2005 it wasn't necessary for dad to be present but by 2007 it was. I also believe that you can not put unknown anymore. Did you really get to put down the name of a man you weren't married to as the father of your child? You could have named anybody! The registrar couldn't know if you were telling the truth.0 -
You can only name your husband if he is not present - otherwise, the father has to be present to register a birth.0
-
As far as I was aware the father has to be present unless he is married to the mother. When my son was born in 2004, I did not attend and I am sure that is still the case. Well, it must be as I was not present when the new baby was registered in January (unless somebody posed as me!).
I want a test and have applied to the CSA approved company however there is a waiting list and yes it does cost £400. Just not sure how I will pay for it!!Me thinks only way forward for you is to self-fund a CSA approved DNA test - this opens a whole new can of worms, but suppose if you have doubts you need to clarify if the 2nd child is yours. But please prepare yourself and get advice regarding a CSA approved test, I believe there are a couple of firms who CSA like punters to use, and that they cost around £400-£500.0 -
A few ideasPandy
Have a read here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2132075
Surveys and clicks do not affect benefits or tax.
Also have a look at the £10 a day challenge threads on DFW for ideas.
And join www.freegle.co.uk or freecycle for household stuff and clothes.
I hesitate to suggest this but read here http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=&f=41
If you do decide to go for this, then please use the clicks and surveys thread to put together your first stakes, NOT your regular income, as you cannot afford to lose it. And read read and read again until you understand it fullyIf you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
PandyLegend wrote: »No arrears. Electric is on a prepay meter and costs about £40-£50 a month.
Waters are both £20-£25 a month (meter).
I have always paid around this amount and have looked into cheaper suppliers in the past but with no luck. Not a lot I can do about the prepay meter though - is there?
A couple of thoughts.
1. Ring up the power company and check the rate on the meter per KWH. Just to make sure you are not apying off someone else's arrears.
2. talk to the LL re the meter. PP are often much much more expensive and frankly you need a tenner a month more than the power company.
There are few thread around about reducing power and watwer consumption.
What sort of set up do you have? CC, power shower, immersion heater? If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
I will assume you had finger trouble typing your reply, as what you have actually typed is BS!
Unless you mean the child is atest tube baby and the father never had to do any back breaking work all night long
I believe we were talking about registration not conception...
I also apologise as it looks like my information is incorrect, I have been trying to find my info on registering births from 2005 (as I had kept all the leaflets & bounty packs etc) but since moving can not locate them.
Good luck anyway.xBSC 289A life lived in fear is a life not living!Proud to have dealt with my debts.0 -
