nightmare with my BMW

I have owned a 2005 BMW X5 3.0 Diesel from new, it's done 58,000 miles and has been fully maintained by BMW.
Smoke started pouring out the back last week and it turns out the Turbo has failed, in the process damaging the intercooler, exhaust system etc.
The dealer has told me it will cost of £6,700 to put right !!!!
Is it reasonable that such an expensive failure should occur after just 58,000 miles?
Do I have any comeback on BMW? What are my rights?
Please help!

I would have thought a Turbo should last 100000 plus. Its worth doing some research to find out if this is a common failure or not and how long on average they should last. That way when you talk to BMW you have all the facts.0

Is it fully serviced etc by BMW.
At 5 years old and 60k mileage it isnt going to be easy and I think at best you might get an offer if its fully serviced by BMW for a percentage off.
Legally I dont think you have a chance.0 -
OP, have you contacted BMW UK themselves about this?"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Yes, contact your dealer again and ask them to contact BMW to see if they will contribute to the cost. If you have your car regularly serviced at a BMW dealership then its likely that they may be willing to help you out, at least for the cost of parts.
