Hi
I recently claimed mis sell on my PPI insurance on my Natwest loan (using thee ML template). Its taken them a while to get back to me but they now have and they have rejected it and sent a copy of the T&C's and the page where i signed for the cover.
Is this worth taking to the FOS or not?

Hi Stacey
Was this the final decision?
If not then write back and request they reconsider your complaint, and if there is anything else to give in further information write that as well.
Work on their findings on why they rejected your complaint.
Even on final decisions it is known they have changed their minds and given a favourable response, depending on what you tell them.
The FSA are punishing banks for not investigating complaints properly, and for rejecting genuine complaints, you could always bring this up that you are aware of this matter.
You could give them say 7-14 days to get back to you, and then if they do not get back or even change their decision by then, I think your best option would be to complain to the FOS.
Good luck with this.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

There is nothing wrong with having PPI. The complaints are how it was sold.
Natwest have sent the evidence that shows you requested it. So, if you were to refer it to the FOS, what would be your reasons?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
I have not got the letter on me but i will bring it tomoz and confirm what their final response was0

Ok so the letter stated that their staff are trained to tell customers that the insurance is optional. there is no evidence that i was incorrectly told that i must take the policy to be successful within my loan application.
I signed and ticked the section for PPI,the policy was provided on a no adivce basis, i had a cancellation period.
Above is a brief run over of the rejection letter i got for my final response. Is this worth taking to the fos?
has anyone had this response with natwest and taken it further?0 -

Possibly. What evidence do you have to suggest that you were mis-sold?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Hi
This is one of the standard responses many receive.
Did they confirm if this was their final response?
If not then write back and ask them to reconsider.
Tell them despite their findings and trained staff you do not believe it was sold in your interest, and if the policy was discussed with you, its highly possibly you would have had the opportunity to not have taken it out.
Of course many used to think it was all part of the finance, because of not being told any different, if this is the case for you, then do tell them that as well.
Did you request a Subject access request (SAR), this is where they have 40 calendar days to send all the info they hold on your account going back at least the last 6 years, some do also enclose info going back to even earlier years.
There is a payment you must enclose for this request of £10 cheque or postal order.
Template (SAR) letter on this link here below:
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1475553
(this is just optional though but "may" help your case if something is enclosed to help you with your complaint).
If this was the final decision, you are entitled to complain to the FOS.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

I handed my letter to request loan info in at my local branch today and have also sent one via post to the lending centre.
The lady at the branch asked what the letter was about so she could deal with it correctly and I told her it was requesting my loan info so that I could per sue reclaiming any mis-sold PPI.
She then laughed and said " have you had one of those marketing calls" which came across as quite sarcastic to me. I told her that I was doing the enquiry myself.
She then said that all Nat West staff are trained not to sell but to offer the PPI if needed. I am pretty sure that at the time of taking out the loan 4 or 5 years ago, I felt that if I didnt take it out then I wouldnt get the loan.
She then went on to say the letter would be handing to the correct department and finished with " lets see how this effects your relationship with the bank.
To which I replied " yes lets see".
Will keep you all posted and good luck to all!!
