Options
I'm due to complete on the purchase of my very first home in a couple of weeks :D

So, I've been thinking about all the admin stuff I need to do. So far I've got:

-council tax- close old account, set up new
-water- transfer balance from old property to new (both unmetered, both Thames Water)
-electoral roll- inform of change of address before 10 August
-bank- inform of change of address
-phone- as above
-student loan- as above
-experian- as above
-register with doctors in new area
(-just cancelled sky so don't need to move that)
-mail redirection
-new tv licence (we were paying through LL)

Can anyone think of anything I've forgotten? :o:p

I don't know - that will depend on your tax situation. It won't do any harm to tell HMRC anyway, will it? Price of a stamp, or time taken to e-mail or complete a form on their website, maybe....

    Terrific list, thank you.

Just one to add: holiday company and/or travel agent - it has just dawned on me that I have tickets due to come by post after my moving date, for an October holiday...

That's made me think of another -

    Concert/Theatre Ticket Agencies

Tickets sometimes mailed out two weeks prior to event; if booked well in advance and you move.... but Royal Mail redirection should catch them.

I would add, arrange check out inventory on your flat, go online to deposit service and request deposit back on rented flat. Also tell window cleaner if you have one (or any other tradesperson that visits - gardener/cleaner/babysitter?) and breakdown service provider if you have one.

Also might need to change stored addresses anywhere like Amazon etc. you order from online.

Not as urgent, obviously, so long as you aren't in a rush ordering anything and don't get into a blind clicking frenzy on the site. ;)

I agree with this - hubby forgot one of the accounts and didn't look when ordering something a few months later so it got sent to the old address and went missing (even with a postal redirect). Luckily the retailer was good and sent another out.

I was rather annoyed with him for not checking it before pressing the confirm button!
