now the battery problem shouldnt be too much of a worry if you run it from the mains (as most people do) most of the time as it will happen over time with any battery
as for your other problem although i dont know if it is the problem, it could be a drivers issue if your keyboard isnt working,
a test might be to try a Ubuntu LiveCD to boot into to see if the keyboard still works with that (will also give you the ability to back up all your files if you havent got a recent copy) if it doesnt work with ubuntu it is likely to be a hardware issue - so think if you have knocked or dropped it recently, if so you might just have to reconnect the keyboard connector,
if it does work however you will probably have to reinstall the keyboard driversDrop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -
A quck search suggests battery or ACPI to be the culprit. See:

Suggests you need a new battery. Maybe the Acer website can offer some guidance.
If others know better, do chime in!Friendly greeting!0
