Well, that's why you keep 5% of the purchase price aside in cash as a contingency for these sorts of issues.... you have kept 5% of the purchase price aside haven't you?

    Erm... No:(

I was never advised of this, and to be honest even if I had, I couldn't afford to put that amount of money to one side so we probably would have had to re-think the situation.

I'm a little annoyed that the survey didn't seem to pick up on anything and I will be giving them a call today just to see what they say...
  • Wow, after reading that I feel a bit better.

We got married last Friday, had small mini-moon in UK and completed on Tuesday on our new flat.

Couple we bought from seemed lovely, flat clean etc, etc.

Got in yesterday and their cat has obviously been p*issing regularly behind the TV (a common place for stressed cats, as the heating and cooling TV sends off pee like odours...).

So OH is looking around at a few DIY projects (painting the poo brown walls, Dulux Once was beaten!) and I keep saying "it smells of p*iss". We have cats and I am a Vet Nurse, so I know what I smell! OH says "oh they had a baby, thats the smell..." I went looking in the living room, the only carpeted room and found the huge stain area and the stronger stench! OH then had to agree.

We went back with Stanley knife and agreed to tear up the carpet and any bits of underlay and lay cheap lino until we decided what to do - don't want ours smelling the pee and adding to it!

When OH was kneeling down he said "whats that and pointed to small dark speck - which jumped! Oh joy cat flea infestation too!

I have sprayed to kill them but not before 3 nice bites on my calf muscle, preventing me wearing a knee length dress to a wedding tomorrow, and us moving in this side of the weekend!
