We are in the process of moving home, and our buyers have just had a homebuyers survey done on our current home. The surveyor said the house seemed solid, no problems that he could see. However he asked if the house has cavity wall ties. Although he could see no obvious problems, he said it was difficult for him to check as the house is rendered, and we dont have any guarantees to show him. He did say that the price that we are selling the property for is fine, and that it was just a recommendation for our buyers to possibly have the wall ties checked. When we bought the property 4 years ago, the previous owners had done a lot of structural work to the house, and told us that it did have cavity wall ties. Also our next door neighbour (who are good friends) also confirmed that the previous owners did do this. Is this likely to cause a problem with our buyers, or is this quite a common thing. Also what does it involve when getting these checked. I dont really want someone messing up the outside of the house if there is a possibility that our buyers may pull out of the sale.

they cannot touch your property till they own it, dont worry. !!0

No I realise that. Im just concerned that if I refuse to have this checked, should they want to, that I may lose the sale.0

If the house appears structurally sound, then there should be no reason to check the ties.
Is the house Victorian or older? Wall ties are supposed to be the most sympathetic way to 'help' a period property.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

No its only about 60 years old. Hopefully my buyers wont feel the need to check them. I suppose I'll have to wait and see.0
