quick help needed with TV

I have a Baird LCD TV which I got about three months ago. It has been fine until about half an hour ago when the picture sort of "popped" and then went black, but the sound remained fine. I checked to see if it was the cable but it is definitely the TV. After a couple of minutes I noticed a strong electrical burning smell so switched off and unplugged. I am about to go up to bed but am a bit worried about the TV smouldering inside as the smell is stronger now if anything and I don't want the house to go on fire when we are asleep! Does anyone know if it will be okay now that I have unplugged it? I am a bit worried too because I bought the TV from Cash Generator - it was brand new in the box, but was officially second hand IYKWIM. Will I still be able to get my money back?

Doubt it will go up in smoke, if completely unplugged from the mains and seemingly not on fire. Maybe take it to bed with you if you are worried, you'll notice any problem quicker, or put it in the car. If nothing happens in the next half hour, it should be ok.

The bearings on the Nipkow disk tend to run hot on Baird Televisors, a little 3in1 oil should do the trick.
