Curb dropping

Anyone had experience with dropping curbs in front of house?
Planning involved cost etc?
Thanks
P

  • I recently asked our local council about dropping the kerb outside our driveway and they wrote back giving permission to drop it and a list of contractors they will allow to do the work. The council wanted £60 for overseeing and checking and the contractor wanted £750 to drop the kerb. This is in SEWales but the price varies widely across the country

Thanks for that, that seems to be roughly the price the country over having looked at other forums reguarding curb dropping. I need 2 doing so would like to think i'd get a discount from the contractors. Think i'll go and have a chat with the local council.
    Thanks

Ps did the planning take long?
  • No planning as such, I emailed the council asking for prices and info and the wrote back to me by letter within a fortnight saying they gad no objection to it being done.

Result!!!! Just got back from local planning dept at coucil and they said as my street wasnt a main road that no planning was required.
They basically said put it in writing to us - then they write back confirming its ok - then I get in touch with highways agency to see when they can do it and costs.
