Can someone tell me how much a solicitor can charge for this? I'm dealing with two solicitors at the moment, one charges £35.00 and the other £47.00. Is there any rules regarding this?

You could ask if that's negotiable.
I assume the charge is the same but they like to make some profit on it.0 -
Thanks Poppy thats useful. It seems a lot of difference. Its as if the solicitors can charge what they like.0

It does cost a bit for the solicitor and it will depend bank to bank. The usual to charge a client is around £35.00 these days.
The solicitors can charge what they like, if they tell you what they are going to charge and you don't like it then ask them if they will reduce it.0 -

Its probably down the the individual solicitors banks. The charge for a same-day transfer varies from bank to bank. They are probably just passing it straight on.0 -
more likely its a CHAP's charge. the solicitor will be charged by the bank for the pleasure of it being guaranteed to be with the recipient the same day. It will also cover the solicitor's admin fee to arrange the transfer
your own bank will charge you for this0 -
Bacs is about 10p. But that is 3 day transfer and guessing not what they are doing.
CHAPS (same day transfer) is anything up to £30, but may be as low as £15. Banks charge a lot for sending money same day.0 -
BACS costs hardly anything so this is ridiculous!
CHAPS cost a bit more, as said anything up to £30 but next day/faster payments are cheaper and basically just as quick. Speak to them and check it is BACS they are doing, as a BACS payment would take minutes and cost hardly anything!BCT:[strike]£16,500 [/strike] £0 HFC CURRYS: [strike]£520[/strike] £0 HFC PC WORLD: [strike]£800[/strike] £0 ARGOS CARD: [strike]£795[/strike] £0 ADDITIONS DIRECT: [strike]£625[/strike] £0 NATIONWIDE CC: [strike]£1560[/strike] £0 VIRGIN CC: [strike]£1500[/strike] £0 :j0
