Why do you need a new fan in the first place they usually last a lifetime!
Ebay seems to be the best place but you might have trouble finding one that fits your lappy.

I thought laptops generally relied on lots of heatsink and and external fan although I haven't seen inside that many?
Also how did he come to this decision?

Yeah usually a copper heat sink is on top of the cpu with a solid copper pipe leading to a larger heatskint on the side, this larger heatsink is cooled by a fan. Damn do they get hot!!
  • Sorry I should have been more specific was using terminology that oh used to me and I got a little confused. Its the fan at the side. I think in PCs the fan is above the cpu?
Anyway I can see that the fan is not spinning at all when laptop is on. Laptop gets very very hot. Is it worth getting a cooling mat?
