Trainline bookings

Hi . Can anyone clarify something for me please. Im booking tickets on Trainline and want to send them to a different address to my primary billing address, just as a one off. I clicked on manage addresses and under the box showing my primary address details, theres another box for 'set as default delivery address' which then asks for a nickname and address details, and then a 'save' button.
Well why would I want a nickname for the people at the one off address Im sending the tickets to, and what exactly does it mean saving their address as a default delivery address? Surely my normal billing address that I usually use, should be my default address -ie always used unless I state a different one? Im just a little nervous that if I stick this new address in , they will get my future tickets because it may be difficult to get my original address put back in place. Has anyone had problems with it , before I have a go?

Default delivery address = where the tickets will be sent to now and in the future if you do more bookings. Not a good idea. Don't tick it.
But why on earth are you using thetrainline - they charge for bookings and CC use unlike virtually every other train booking website0 -
Also they are not very good and if something goes wrong they only have an overseas callcenter where people cant understand you. We ordered some tickets that never arrived, first they said there was a problem and they were posting them out now, then they said they had been lost in the post and refused to send us more and told us to just get on the train and it would be sorted which we didnt want to do. Eventually about a week before we went we phoned up to cancel the tickets (which costs £10) and as we were in a train station at the time they agreed to give us a code so we could get them out the fast track machine but what a palava! If you google you will see just how bad their customer service is. I would book direct from the train company if I was you!Married 30/08/14 :heartpuls0

I frequently book tickets (not through the trainline) for DD and have a default delivery address set up. Never a problem.
If I want tickets for myself I just change it back for that transaction.
And some people like nicknames - that's not an issue.
And despite not booking through the trainline - guess where the tickets come from - yep thetrainline. The customer service angle is a bit of a red herring - they are all much of a muchness.0 -
Why don't you just pick the tickets up at the station.
It's free and very quick and painless.0 -
Must admit Ive not had problems with Trainline before - but only ever had delivered to my home address, or have picked up at the station. As dzug said, in this case , the recipients wouldnt have my card . Ive tested out other outfits pricewise, and they all seem the same when you need specific trains. Im nervous about doing online bookings at all since last night as my screen has gone black twice in 24hrs now - I can do without the hassle of explaining to a foreign call centre that I may or may not have completed my transaction lol, so I reckon Ill get my visitors to book their own tickets. Thanks everyone.0

You will then find that the trainline and raileasy add on their fees.0 -
To be fair, they do have a very good online Livechat for customer service problems... if you can find the link!
"Nickname" is because the website will save the address in case you want to use it again in future. My address book would probably have a number of delivery addresses including "work", "sister", "Janet and John" etc... It doesn't take long to just fill that bit of the form inMortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -

Any of the train companies. They sell each others tickets at the same price with no fees. (Exception - Cross Country charge postage). A few of them give a discount if it's certain of their own tickets you are buying. (Southern, East Coast, East Midland)0
