Barclays PPI

Hi all.
I'm new to all this so excuse any mistakes. Basically I would like to know if I can reclaim my PPI on my Barclays Bank Loan. I took it out in Sep '06 for £10,000 over 5 years. I bought it on the phone and not online. I read somewhere that banks loans in that period won't be able to be reclaimed on? Thought I'd ask here before making a fool of myself with the bank!

Hi Tom and welcome

It makes no difference, just as long as you have a reason to make a reclaim for example the PPI was mis sold to you for any reason then give it a go.

It may also be a good idea to request for the telephone recordings if you can, this may help support your case.

What you do instead of writing a letter of reclaim, in the first stage there is a questionnaire to complete, you use this instead of writing a letter, these questionnaires were issued by the financial ombudsman service (FOS) for this purpose.
Complete/save a copy in case you need to refer to it at a later day and send to whoever set up the policy.

They have 8 weeks in full to respond, make sure you get proof for posting at your post office as well.

Hi me again

Have been rather busy latley and unable to start the battle! I have just printed off the quiestionaire, so was wondering who I send this off to, my loan is insure by Barclays Insurance in Dublin. Would that be to whom I send the quiestionaire?

You send it to whoever set up and sold you the policy from the start.;)

Hi Redtom, i have just read your thread. I have just claimed from Barclays for my personal loan. I sent the questionnaire from this website as i also bought the loan over telephone. I told them that it was mis-sold and the person was pushy therefore i felt it was compulsory to purchase. They acknowledged my complaint straight away and then within less than 2 months, they replied back and offered me the full refund. so good luck. Just keep one thing in your mind, it is YOUR MONEY!, so go for it, you will succeed indeed.

Hey thanks for that, most encouraging! I sent off the the completed questionaire last week by airsure with the royal mail so barclays can't say they didn't receive it!! Thanks to di3004 for all your help and will let you know how i get on!! Here's hoping!!
