faulty goods from germany

hi guys i need some advice. i have bought a satellite receiver off a website based in Germany and paid with paypal. When it came it was faulty out of the box so i got in touch with the store by email and they gave me a link to the manufacturer .i went through the procedure sent it back with to the manufacturer with more cost myself and it was returned about 2 weeks later.I now have a different fault on the box and have decided to ask for a refund.I have opened up a dispute on paypal to ask for a refund or credit to spend in the shop. They have got back in touch through paypal and sent me a link again to the manufacturer again and told me to claim through the warranty.i dont really wont to do this as i have bought the box from there store and i think it is up to them to resolve.Am i in my rights to do this because i can up the issue with paypal and they decide who is right if they refuse to give me a refund.

thanks gav

As presumably they are a german company you will need to understand German Consumer Law not UK so not many people will know here I am afraid.
The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

If I give you advice it is only a view and always always take professional advice before acting!!!

Correct, since you bought directly from a retailer based in Germany then German Consumer Law will apply. In theory due to EU directives it will be similar, you should google/bing to find out the specifics though.

If you up the paypal claim you will have to return the item tracked (at your cost) before you get a refund.
