Sorry im sure i keep repeating myself with this but im losing sleep over it, it just doesnt seem right!!
Claiming both Halifax and Capital one (Its actually my mum but I gave her the idea) First thing is the interest? I know she can claim 8% when the county court claim goes in, but according to a spreadsheet on bankactiongroup.com she can claim interest on EACH charge from the DAY it was debited???
This is working out to be an awful lot!!! surely it cant be right? please someone point me in the right direction, and if this is right is there an easier way of working out how many days since "offence" without counting back on calendars!!! ?
My mind is all screwed up with figures at the mo so this is probly just question 1 of many.........claim needs to go in 2MOZ!!! arrrrrrrggggghhhhh
TIA

Have you been on the Consumeractiongroup thread to see if you can find out from them? www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk.
You only claim interest when you actually go to Court so if your not at that stage don't panic.
My claim so far has been for Bank Charges + Court Fee + DPA info. obtained (£10) + postage costs.0 -
If you go onto the Consumer Action Group and read the FAQs it starts to make sense!!!
There is an Excel spreadsheet on the Library that will calculate all the interest for you.

Yea thats the site i got most of my info from, but there is a spreadsheet in the library to calculate daily interest,
eg. one charge of £18.00 made in 2000, spreadsheet works the interest out at about £7.ish and thats only 1 charge!!! There is £1030 worth!!!
Some1 on that site told me I charge interest on each charge from the day it was made<----maybe this is only for credit cards?Good enough club member number 140 -
You can claim interest on all charges from the day they are made.
I am claiming for my bf - the charges amount to £1997 but add the interest and another £400 pops up. Will I be claiming it all? You bet your pants I will!
This is just a normal current account - no cc involved.
Sorry, I mean he will... hmm...Debt free date - June 2008 :T :T :T0 -

Ive read as much as I could on there and posted alot but I dont seem to get many replies like I do here :T just posted here for second opinions thats all......( I was told the same by 1 person on that site but needed a double check as county court claim forms are going in tomorrow)

SugaJen, what stage are you at? If this is your first letter to reclaim the charges (preliminary letter) then you only need to include the charges. Ditto if it is your LBA (letter before action). If you have got as far as submitting a small claim then you can add in 8% per charge, calculated from the date of the charge. The spreadsheet on https://www.consumeractiongroup automatically calculates this for you. On my first claim (only £750 as I am in scotland) which covered 2000 to 2004 the interest calculated was £209.0

Hiya fruitycar,
Sent all possible letters, (asking for statements, Prelim, LBA) now their 14 days are up, so claim forms going in asap (2mora if I can get it all done in time)

Have you followed this thread?
http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/general/6964-spreadsheet-interest.html
the spreadsheet calculates the daily interest rate for you and yes it does add up, its kinda like a bonus 'coz the bank could'nt get its sorry a**e in gear and settle before court action.0 -
Yes fruitycar, thats where I got most of my info and the spreadsheet from, so am I right in thinking if the bank decides to settle before the court then they dont have to pay the interest?
Sorry, this is all wrecking my head lolGood enough club member number 140
