Hi Folks,
My son has been trying to install the latest update on his ipod, but he keeps getting the message that he cannot connect to the 'ipod software update server'.
All day I've been looking on the web for help and I've tried everything suggested -- allowing cookies; adjusting LAN settings; flushing the dns - none of this has worked.
Changing the computer's security settings has also been suggested. We are using microsoft security essentials but I don't know how to change the security settings.
Has anyone had experience of this problem?
Can anyone suggest what we could try?
Can anyone pleeeeeeeeeeese help?
Regards, ktj.

Could it be the firewall? It sounds like you are on Windows - are you using the inbuilt firewall or a third party one like Comodo?0

Hi there,
Thanks for your interest, yes I'm using the inbuilt firewall. However I'm pleased to say that after much trial and error I have manage to sort out the ipod and I didn't have to mess with the firewall. It wasn't straight forward, but basically I was able to access the server via Safari rather than Internet Explorer and with a bit of messing about I eventually got it sorted!0
