Well, the obvious thing to do (if you haven't already arranged it) would be to head up to Benidorm, about a 35 min easy drive up the motorway.
Loads of things to do and see and you could always get a half day ticket to TerraMitica or TerraNatura or visit the waterpark Aqualandia.

We haven't arranged anything yet. Just looking for any good ideas of what to do, what to see etc.
I have tried to have a look for some tourist information for things to do around that area, but most sites only give limited information and the rest is in spanish.
We are going for 11 days to a villa, in between alicante and mutxamel.
Even looked at the bull fighting in Alicante, but the website was mainly in spanish so couldn't make head nor tail of it! Not sure if it would be too violent for the kids too, having thought about it after.0 -
Hi, Alicante itself is worth a trip, it has a small beach, a wonderfall tiled promenade with a fantastic icecream parlour for the kids, there is also a carnival museum, which i'm sure the kids will love, you also have castle barbara on the top of the hill. And plenty of little squares with restaurants.
have a good time jackie0 -
Hope you aren't going to soak up Spanish culture and eat Spanish food.... We stayed in La Zenia (down the coast a bit from Alicante) and the entire area is like Blackpool - English/Irish bars etc.
Aqualandia was good for our toddler though, and there are of course plenty of decent beaches. Theres a tourist train that runs along the coast as well, so that can make another day out.0 -
In August it Alicante it will be too hot to do anything for a whole day ! the temperatures soar-you need to be somewhere cool near a pool or the sea and go out later in the evening-your children will not enjoy being stuck in a car. Head down the n32 to san pedro del pinatar a small coastal town -they have a nature reserve, mud baths with mineral properties and a lagoon-it is called the mar menor and is really shallow for the kids.0
