ocean furniture

hi, err this may not sound like moneysaving so apologies in advance but i wanted to post anyway , mods feel free to move it or do whatever.

i was just about to place an order for a revolving bathroom storage cabinet, idea being it would go alongside my new sink and hold all the bits 'n' pieces like toothbrushes, soap etc, then it revolves to a full length mirror to hide everything when not in use. it was a wee bit expensive but a treat for us doing so well with our new budget and would finish off the bathroom nicely.

anyway i went on to website tonight to place order and instead of the normal homepage i gets this text ...

Dear Customer,

This notice is to inform you that Ocean has ceased trading.

All customers will be contacted by the liquidator in due course.

If you have paid by credit card, please contact your credit card company to arrange a refund.

The manufacturers and suppliers who are holding stock on behalf of Ocean but have not been paid will contact you by special arrangement to provide the goods at trade prices to clear.

The shop in Highgate is currently closed but will soon be trading again selling furniture. Please note that this company has no connection with Ocean or it's directors. Anyone attempting to remove goods from the premises will be prosecuted.

The head office of Ocean is now closed and is unmanned.

The managing director, would like to say how disappointed he is with the situation and would like to point out he has personally lost £500,000 trying to keep the company afloat.

i'm a bit gutted coz i couldn't find anything like it anywhere else but obviously relieved that i didn't part with hard earned cash. anyway, it mentions manufacturers and suppliers holding stock which will be available at trade prices to clear  any ideas how i can find out who to contact?? will do some googling for myself through the week but thought i'd ask on here 'case anyone knows.

Oh dear, what a shame. Nice shop, that. They should be appointing official receivers, and they would be the people to contact. As you hadn't actually placed an order, you obviously won't be getting contacted from the manufacturers/suppliers, as they'll be contacting people who had actually ordered and paid for their goods.

They closed their Milton Keynes store quite a while ago, which is a shame as they had some nice stuff in there and on their website.

It seems that Ikea/Habitat are the only furniture company that can sell nice modern furniture in the UK without going bust. Why I wonder?
