Polar Ford
Hi All,
I want to get in touch with someone to file a complaint about Polar Ford in Runcorn, Cheshire but I cannot seem to find any definite head office address or e-mail.
Just in case you want some background:
I bought my 2nd hand car from a Hartwell dealership in Norwich, Norfolk (people who work there are brilliant at their jobs and I would recommend to anyone). I moved up to Runcorn and had an issue with my car. I broke down after leaving my car turned off for 10 minutes and it was dead on key. My break down cover took me to Polar Ford as they are my nearest Ford Specialist (the term specialist used very loosely!). I explained what they had to do in order to repair my car if it was something covered by my warranty and they were more than happy to do so. They quickly repaired my car by putting a new alternator in and doing a full diagnostic test which was all covered by my warranty. Ace! I get my fixed car and leave.
2 days later my car does exactly the same again, and again I got towed and deposited at Polar Ford. This time they replaced my starter motor and did a full diagnostic test again. Sweet! Everything was covered by my warranty again. Took my car away and again a couple of days later it did the same thing. By this time I no longer trusted Polar Ford so took my car to a local garage who, within an hour, told me the vehicle had the wrong battery in and the connections to the battery got very hot, very quickly. So I got my battery and connections replaced which wasn't covered by my warranty. My car has now broken AGAIN for the 4th time in 2 months with the battery light coming on being the issue as usual!
I now would like to feedback to Polar Ford at the service I received as I feel that they replaced things under the warranty without doing a proper diagnostic on the vehicle as someone, somewhere has missed something and I have spent a lot of money getting these things fixed when they haven't even solved the problem. I think that Polar Ford owe my something (even if it's a free service at a different garage) for them, being Ford SPECIALISTS and missing these issues after doing 2 diagnostic tests.
Do I have a case at all here and if I do does anyone know of any contacts for Polar Ford's head office???
I would love to hear people's thoughts on this with any information being gratefully received!
Thanks!

I fell asleep reading that...0

What money has Polar Ford cost you that you wouldn't have had to pay anyway?0

That can't be the problem if it still isn't working, surely? Why aren't you complaining about the local garage? They're the only ones that have cost you money and failed to solve the problem.0 -
Now I don't know if this is true but it's what I was told. When a modern car goes wrong it gets plugged into a computer and the computer reads a fault, they fix the fault, something else happens they plug it in again it shows another fault and so on and so on. It doesn't read all the faults just a sequence of faults. Now this may be bull but sounds logical, but cars are now so high tech that parts are just replaced whereas the likes of my Dad and Uncle used to strip engines and gearboxes I don't think modern mechanics (or should I say Technicians) do this anymore. My Mini was so high tech that when a red spanner appeared on the dash we took it to the main agents (knowing it didn't need a service) and guess what, it was to tell me the car had approached it's third birthday and an MOT was due. It had had an MOT at a local MOT station but nobody had told the Mini's brain.
Isn't technology wonderful.

Just playing devils advocate here, but do you do enough miles to keep the battery charged?
Every morning (for the last month) I see this particular woman in her 40's, get into her new Lexus and drive less than 300 yards to her workplace and every morning I think "any time soon, that thing won't want to start".
Additionally if your car has ever been "sat" for any length of time before you bought it, then the battery may actually be knackered (and please don't start with the "but it reads 12v", I don't want to start explaining how batteries work again).“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

No, you're not owed anything. Car repair isn't always an exact science, especially with intermittent faults like this.0

Hope Polar Ford don't decide to sue you.0

Well you have all been very helpful, cheers.
My car has now gone to a different garage to be plugged into a computer to try and find out what exactly is wrong with it. Apparently it is something wrong with a wiring loom (something not covered by my warranty goddammit) of some description.
The reason I am annoyed at Polar Ford is because I feel that as Ford specialists they should have picked up on the problem in the first place. I do not fully believe that my car was in full need of a new alternator and starter motor which Polar supplied but who I am to argue witha vehicle technician?!?!
To be honest, I am now at my wits end with the (enter swear word here) car! Nothing that I get replaced seems to make it work!
Strider509 - Yeah, I am pretty sure I drive my car enough to charge the battery as I use it to commute to work which is 3.5 miles one way and I am the only driver within my group of friends so I am forever going everywhere in the evenings! And I know that 12v isn't enough to start it. The first time it was dead on key we checked how many volts it had!
Dave Z - I am mainly complaining at Polar because they are supposed to be specialists, but don't worry, I wont be using my local garage again either!
harveybobbles - That comment is a wee bit rude, don't you think?????0
