I've been very pleased with the following from Lidl; disinfecting wet wipe things, the Oxy clean stuff in a tub (half the price of Vanish), laundry powder, sink unbunging granules, nail polish remover and liquid soap. My MIL says Lidl's carpet cleaner is the best she's ever used. I will certainly not hesitate to try other stuff from them as and when my existing supplies run out.Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0

Their washing powder is excellent and I swear by the wet-wipe things which, while not exactly OS I suppose are brilliant for wiping round sinks, loo seats, taps etc etc.0

The majority of Lidl's cleaning products are sourced from their home market (Germany) and are very high quality. The washing powders etc have often come out as good as the big brands in Stiftung Warentest (equivalent of Which?). The German market is very demanding so we get great products at low prices as a result.
I have had good experiences with bleach, fabric conditioner, washing tablets (but now use Sainsburys Megaperls Tabs which are German Persil in disguise), the Vanish type Oxi granules, window cleaner. Many of the products that I used to use (multi purpose cleaner, window cleaner, laminate floor cleaner etc) have now been replaced by Stardrops but the Lidl products were as good as the equivalent big brands.
I've had variable experiences with Lidl's washing up liquid. Some are more concentrated than others - read the label carefully.
Overall I've been less impressed with Aldi's household products. Nothing wrong with them per se but I do feel that Lidl's have the edge in quality.
Lidl's big 10 pack of toilet rolls for about £1.40 ish is a bargain. Their boxes of tissues aren't great however. Much prefer Aldi's. Cotton buds, cleansing pads etc have all been fine from both.0 -
thanks all
the problem is i usually shop in boots/asda and its getting to the stage where i am going up the scale (ie now get dove/radox/lux instead of boots own brand) so in my mad thinking i am thinking if i get this all from lidl a lot cheaper, as long as its as good as boots own brand i am not worried, but i find with cleaning products bleach is bleach but i like using wetwipes/multi surface wipes from asda and at 40 for £1 and one does only my desk ist a bit of a con.....
... i think i will just have to pop in and buy some of the stuff i usually buy and try it out0 -
Worth having from aldi: conditioner (my favourite of all conditioners), anti-dandruff shampoo, Bleach, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, jay cloths, loo rolls, kitchen rolls, bin bags. Only thing I don't buy is the non-bio washing powder as I'm allergic to it.
I usualy find the aldi stuff is better quality than ASDA and Tesco's own brands.2009 wins: Signed Saxon CD, Solar Torch, Drumsticks, Priest Feast Tix, Watch, Hammerfest tix :beer:0 -
Hi postingalwaysposting,
As this is really a shopping rather than Old Style thread, I'll move it over to the Shop but Don't Drop board, where you should get more help.

I would just like to say thanks to all of you, I have always had doubts about the quality of Aldi Household products (it's the inner snob in me...sorry!!), but next time I run out of bits I will be popping down the road and getting the things I need.
I have bought stuff from there before and was pleasantly surprised at the quality. I do tend to buy most things at Wilkos and 99p store as we have these aswell in our town.
I get my mum to buy me Bounty kitchen roll, when she goes to Makro as I do like the quality and I have OCD (Cleaning windows and glass in general), and I do rinse it out, dry it and use it again(sad I know).
Is there anything NOT to buy in Aldi/Lidl?Proud to be me, proud to be who I am!!0
