You have two options. Either you pick it, eat it, enjoy it and rejoice after all the effort you've put in. Or, you can leave it and let the wildlife in your garden to enjoy it. The birds and squirrels will not say thank you, or leave a little note, they'll just eat it, and develop a lovely taste for the good fruit. Once they know it's there, they'll no doubt come back for more when the others eventually turn ripe.
So yeah, enjoy it while you can, and don't be surprised how fast the wildlife will discover it and enjoy it!!!Having fun trying to save money without going over the top and living on budget food all the time...0 -

As a newbie to gardening and growing tomatoes, I'm glad someone else has asked the question I have been pondering! Fresh tomatoes with my tea tonight then.0 -
Tomatoes on a particular truss never ripen all at once, even though the supermarkets would like to kid us that they do when they sell several ripe tomatoes on the vine. You normally find that the first tomato at the top of the truss ripens first and then it's a gradual process down the bunch. Pick it, and enjoy it! I personally think that Gardeners Delight tomatoes have the nicest flavour of all the tomatoes.0

It's proven that the ripened banana skins give off Ethene gas and I drape them on the tomato plants to help tomatoes to ripen. . . . .and they do! 0 -
I agree with Primrose. Mrs Badger, who has never been keen on raw tomatoes, looked like she'd had a religious experience the first time she tasted a Gardener's Delight.
And yes - pick them as they ripen. If you don't they'll rot on the vine.0 -
:j Wow thanks ,yeh i was looking at the red toms on the vine in the shops so wondered if they`d redden together or sepaprately ! Thanks again off to pick them :j0
