Planning Permissions within 250m of home!

I have read quite a few people enquiring about whether any new developments etc are planned near by their properties. I recently saw a advert in a property magazine that can provide planning applications within 250m of your home aswell as other useful information (Upmystreet stuff).
There are quite a few products offering this service, the one that was advertised can be ordered and paid for online. This means you are able to get it direct rather than going through your solicitor.
"The Know Your Neighbour Report also offers a unique insight into the development potential of the land and properties within a 250m radius of the subject property. Listed, are details of all applications submitted to the council for properties and land within this area, including home extensions, together with residential and commercial developments"

You know if you go on your local council website, the planning applications will all be on there with full details, saving you £30.
Of course they don't tie it into exact distances, but you can usually search by street or ward, so it's pretty handy.0 -
This is true, but many councils are at different stages with there online planning applications, some show the complete history of a property that can easily be searched by Number / Postcode / Street, others only show weekly lists of planning applications that you have to trawl through. In both cases new developments are often harder to find as they are not specific to an existing address. Its the time spent searching versus the cost issue.0

But surely this is a moving target - what is current today could be out of date tomorrow. You would have to keep paying the fee to get an update presumably?0

I think it is marketed to people that are moving into a new area and people that are curious about planning applications that have been received with 250m of their property. Residential and commercial applications.
"advises existing residents and potential property buyers on details relating to a specific neighbourhood. It provides every planning application made within the last five years within a 250m radius."
As with any report, the information always has a valid length of time, so i guess you would need to renew it. :cool:0
